TERMS OF LOAN
In general, materials are loaned for a period of thirty days (with additional time allowed for mailing to remote library patrons). Communication devices are loaned for 3 months, and long term loan grant and APH (American Printing House for the Blind) materials are loaned for longer periods of time. If no one has requested the item, the loan may be renewed. However, once another person has requested an item, it needs to be returned. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee availability for more than the original loan period, and, for patrons not involved with our caseload students, we can’t promise anything. Usually, however, loan times are adequate to evaluate the item’s usefulness.

HOW TO RETURN LIBRARY MATERIALS
You may bring the items to SESA Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or you may mail items back. Be sure that all parts of each items are returned. If mailing materials, pack them carefully. Please remember to insure all items against loss.
Be sure to pack materials carefully. Remember, the dust that comes off of those packing peanuts can get into disks or delicate equipment and cause damage, so wrap items in plastic bags first. If you mail items in manilla envelopes, tape them carefully. The Library has received envelopes that were falling apart, and items could have fallen out.
HOW TO TRANSFER LIBRARY MATERIALS TO ANOTHER PERSON
First, call to make sure there are no other requests. If not, complete the transfer form, sign it, have the new borrower complete their section and sign it, and make sure a library Memorandum of Agreement is included for the new borrower, if necessary (for an individual, for a program or for a school).
If you have questions, please ask.

Materials Reminder Notices are mailed out monthly. If you haven’t renewed your materials, you will receive one. If you receive a Materials Reminder Notice, please contact the library. You may also return the item(s) immediately, insuring them for the amount shown on the notice. If there is a note indicating that someone else is waiting for the item, please return the item promptly. You can request the materials be sent out to you again.
Remember, most of the time, the primary purpose of the loan is to evaluate the item(s) for possible purchase. We can sometimes provide materials for long term use, as long as you can stay in touch with the library.
Should you ignore two Materials Reminder Notices, you will be billed for the item(s). We’d still prefer to simple get the materials back, so please just contact the library.

- You must have a Memorandum of Agreement (as an individual, a program or a school) on file before materials can be borrowed.
- Length of loan is thirty (30) days, plus shipping time if you are outside of Anchorage. We can often be flexible about extending loans, but you need to stay in touch with us. A quick email is fine!
- Please contact the library when you receive materials reminder notices. Call, fax, email, or write for permission to renew, or else return the item promptly. We hate to do it, but non-responsiveness will result in a bill for the item(s).
- Keep all packing materials for returning the item. Remember, the dust from packing peanuts can damage equipment and computer disks, so wrap items in plastic bags before packing. The next borrow will appreciate your carefulness.
- Keep all manuals, cables, parts, etc., with the item. The item will remain checked out to you until all parts are returned. You may be billed for missing parts.
- Treat the item with care. Damage may result in a bill.
